EXPLANATION OF TRANSCRIPT
Grade Point Average (GPA) is determined by assigning a numerical equivalent to each yearly grade. The equivalents are: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, and F=0. The average of these equivalents is the GPA. Rank in class is determined by comparison of GPA for each graduating senior beginning with his/her freshman year.
GRADE SCALE
A – 93-100 B – 85-92
C – 76-84 D - 70-75

A-5.0 B – 4.0 C – 3.0 D – 2.0
** Any class with failing grade will not receive any credit and must be taken again to receive credit **
COURSE CHARACTERISTICS
Classes meet for 35 weeks per year. Each class that is assigned a yearly credit of 1 unit meets 50 minutes, 5 days per week. Half units are granted for successful semester classes.
LEVELS OF PREPARATION
General Diploma – 23 units of credit with at least 1.00 cumulative GPA
College Preparatory Diploma – 25 units of credit with at least 2.00 cumulative GPA.
Honors Diploma – 25 units with at least 2.50 cumulative GPA and no yearly grades below a C.
TESTING PROGRAM
Freshman and Sophomore – Stanford Achievement Test and PLAN
Junior – Stanford Achievement Test, PSAT, and American College Test (ACT)
Senior – ACT
VCA is an authorized testing site for our students. The ACT is administered once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Our ACT testing code is 250-675.
